St. Brendan’s
St. Brendan’s Primary School opened in 1994 as the third school in the Westernport Parish, Hastings A generous parishioner, Brendan Conroy, donated a parcel of land to the parish and the school moved to its present site at Somerville in 1995. There were 56 students enrolled at the time. The school was officially opened on St Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1996 by Archbishop Frank Little.
St Brendan’s Logo Explanation PictureThe school logo includes images of a boat sailed by St Brendan, which symbolises education as a journey. The Cross represents our Church identity and the encircled hands show support, care, work and helpfulness. The image of the hands also reminds us of the orchard trees, which used to grow on our school property.
Values and attitudes are developed through the incorporation of the Interpersonal Development, Personal Learning and Civics and Citizenship Domains of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards Framework. High but fair expectations are set at St Brendan’s to make the curriculum challenging for all students.
Our new, bright learning environment with its excellent facilities is conducive to a stimulating environment for learning.
