St. Brendan’s
St. Brendan’s Primary School opened in 1994 as the third school in the Westernport Parish, Hastings A generous parishioner, Brendan Conroy, donated a parcel of land to the parish and the school moved to its present site at Somerville in 1995. There were 56 students enrolled at the time. The school was officially opened on St Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1996 by Archbishop Frank Little.
St Brendan’s school logo includes images of a boat sailed by St Brendan, which symbolises education as a journey. The Cross represents our Church identity and the encircled hands show support, care, work and helpfulness. The image of the hands also reminds us of the orchard trees, which used to grow on our school property
St Brendan’s School seeks to be a place of learning and support where every person is known, encouraged and challenged. The philosophy of Positive Psychology underpins the school’s approach to learning and wellbeing. All staff model the Christian values of faith, hope, and love which assists in the development of values and attitudes that equip students to live within our democratic society.
We welcome all visitors to come and see our school in action.
